Maori Hand Games

Hi Guys, welcome back to my blog. Today I am going to be telling you about Maori hand games🖐🎮. I went to learn about Maori hand games on Tuesday in room 6. Some new things I learnt were some string games. I learnt how to do the waka pattern. I learnt that off by heart. I also learnt how to do the jellyfish but I don't know that off by heart. Something I enjoyed was playing He tama tu tama and E hipi toi toi because I love playing games and it was really fun. I also liked koruru but it wasn't my favorite because the knucklebones kept hitting my knuckles and it hurt. Something I found challenging was learning how to do the jellyfish with the whai because I kept using the wrong fingers and then I was getting really annoyed because I couldn't do it. Dear Amie,

Thank You for all of those times that you helped me when I was sad or hurt. Like when Whetu threw the ball at my face when I was trying to shoot it in the hoop and you took me to the sick bay to get an ice pack.

And when we play games you always include me and make sure everybody takes part in the game. Thank you for being so nice to me. For example when I were playing in your pool you were being really nice by coming in the pool to play with me when you were in the spa and you dident want to come out.

Also I am thankful for helping me in tasks like when they said what the writing task was when I was away and then I did not know what it was so you helped me and told me what to do.

Thank You for being there for me when our other friends are being mean to me. Like when me and Mya had that big fight. Mya had all of our other friends and you were by there by me.

I am thankful for you being my friend. You are really funny, smart, weird, awesome, fun to play with and really nice to everybody. I love that you are my friend. You are the awesomest friend in the world.

Special Place Writing

Hey guys! welcome back to another blog of 2017. Today I am going to be showing you my special place writing. So for this writing the group each had to pick a place in hawks bay that is special to them. I picked maraetotora falls. So enough talking I will show you my writing now, Here it is:

Maraetotara falls

I walk along the scratchy, itchy bark path as a reach the most fascinating sight I have ever seen in my whole lifetime. A flock of birds flying over the beautiful shimmering lake. I can see a long rope hanging off a lovely dark green tree. At the end of the lake I can see a humongous, mossy log. Right next to the giant sized log their is a lovely, clear beautiful water fall. The water feels like a bath of ice.

I slip on the slippery mud covered rocks. I swim around the lake as I come across a small rock that lots of people are jumping off. I can hear everybody swimming and splashing around in the water and jumping off the rope swing.

I can see people doing handstand competitions in the water. The reflection from the waterfall is shining beautifully on the freezing cold lake. People are climbing up the steep cliff , trying to get to the rope swing.

The water is shallow when you first go in but it just goes deeper and deeper. I swim to the gigantic log where people lay sunbathing. I try to climb on top of it and I succeed. I have the most beautiful view of the whole place. This is my most favorite place to visit. I wish I could come here everyday.

My River Trip

Hi guys and welcome back to another blog. It is 2017!!!! Today I am going to share with you my River trip story. I hope you enjoy. Here it is:

I slowly and scaredly walk into the shallow,freezing cold river. My goosebump covered legs shiver as I slowly kneel down onto my knees. I see a tiny little goldfish swim straight past my legs. I can hear all of my cousins screaming and laughing. I see a huge mossy rock next to where my cousins are swimming. I swim over to the huge rock faster than a cheetah.

I climb onto the humongous moss covered rock. The huge green rock is super slippery, I put my foot closer to the top and then… Slip. I have fallen back into the river. Lucky I have fallen into the deep part. Lots of tiny, shiny little goldfish swim past me as I struggle to stand up. I try to catch a beautiful little fish but it swims away before I can even touch it.

My biggest cousin Julie sees a little ledge on a small cliff that we can jump off. We all swim over to the ledge and Julie climbs up. The water is WAY to shallow to jump into. It is only up to my knees.”Julie, it is only up to my knees you can't jump from there, you will hurt yourself” I shout”.”That suck’s” Julie says as she carefully climbs down the steep ledge. We are walking back to the deep part to have a water fight and splash.I am having a fantastic time at the river. The river is my favorite place ever.

P.E Blog

Literacy Blog Post

Hey Guys!! Welcome back to another blog post. Today I am showing you my literacy writing. This was a retell. This was really hard because I had to pick a movie but there were so many great Movies to pick from. I picked the jungle book because I know it really really well. Here it is! It is still a work in progress.

The Jungle Book

Decades ago in a jungle far far away there was a baby floating in a river. The baby was crying like it was hurt. It had been sent away by it's mum who could not take care of it.

A black shiny puma named Bagheera heard the innocent baby crying. The animal ran to the river and rescued the poor baby. “Waaaaaa” cried the baby. Bagheera carried the crying baby to the wolf’s den to ask them if they could raise him. “We have never raised a human before. But we will try.” Said the wolves  

They named him Mowgli. He grew up with the wolves until he was about 5. One day he was walking in the woods and a bear came out from behind a tree. The bear's name was Baloo.

He asked his wolf parents if he could live with the bear since they have been playing together a lot. They meet Baloo and they said yes. Mowgli grew up with the bear and he did everything like a bear. He learnt how to catch fish like a bear, He could walk like a bear and even fight like a bear. He was raised by Baloo Until he was eleven years old.

One day Mowgli and Baloo were floating in the river when Mowgli heard a noise. Mowgli was on Baloo’s belly while Baloo was sleeping. Suddenly 5 huge goldish brownish monkey sprung out of the tree and snachted Mowgli. Balloo woke up in shock. “Balloo help me” Cried Mowgli scaredly. “I will save you” Said Balloo Trying to reach out to Mowgli, But he was too late. Balloo sprinted as fast as he could to get Bagheera. He got Bagheera then they found the monkeys and followed them. They found the monkeys base.

Maths Blog Post

Today I will be showing you Mine and Amie's maths.

So for this task I had to make an equation and answer it in two ways.

I choose 22x4 and I answered it by using place value and doubles+doubles.

I found this challenging at first but then I got some help and I got it.

Giraffe Art Blog Post

Hi guys and welcome back to another blog post. Today I will be sharing with you my art. There were three types of art that the hub could pick from. Sketching, Painting and Digi art. I choose painting because I love painting and it is really fun. This took quite a while because we had to draw it which took 2 or 3 days then we had to paint the giraffe, that took about 4 or 5 days. Robotics Fun : )

Hello everybody and welcome back to my blog. Today I am going to tell you all about robotics. Robotics is when you build a electric robot out of Lego. You are probably thinking how do build a electric robot out of Lego? Well there is a motor that makes it run. The second time we went we learnt how to make the robot move. Me and Amie were buddies and we made it go but we did not know how to make it stop. Finally I pushed the stop button and figured out how to make it stop. Here are some pics of people at robotics

Awesome Skiing Holiday

Hello everybody. I hope you had an awesome school holidays. I know I did. Today I am going to blog about my epicly awesome holiday in the snow. On Thursday I woke up at 6:00, got ready and got in the car. Then we got in the car and we drove all the way to Toupo which took about 2 hours. When we got there we got there, we got all of my stuff out of the car and loaded it into my dad's car. My dad lives in National Park so we had to drive about and hour and a half to get to my dads. When we got to National Park, my dad took me shopping. I got some new togs and a thermal singlet. Finally after about 3 and a half hours of traveling we finally got to my dads house. My aunty Marie owns a restaurant in front of my dads house so we were hanging out there a lot of the time. On Monday me and my Dad went skiing. My Dad did not  ski because it was my first time so he just showed me what to do. Then on Tuesday we went skiing a second time and my Dad actually went skiing. That was really fun the second time because I actually knew what to do. Then on Thursday we went to the climbing wall at the backpackers. My Dad did not climb because he had to hold the rope for me. I got this really uncomfortable harness that I had to wear. The climbing wall was 8 METERS HIGH!!!!! I know, crazy right. Might not sound high but it is really high. At the top of each one there was a bell that you had to ring. I got super high then I looked down and I immediately said "Dad I want to get down now". To get down you have to stick your butt out, put your feet against the wall and push of the wall while the other person lowers you down. The reason why you have to push off is so you don't bang your head on the grips. One of the walls you had to go across not up across. 
I said to my Dad "How would anybody climb that?"
 "The very good climbers only have to hold on with their fingers"Dad said . 
Then the second week on Thursday I went home. On the way home me and my cousin Court got frozen yogurt.  There were some really yummy toppings. I got regular strawberry and so did Court. The toppings I got on mine were maltesers, chocolate flakes, chocolate buttons and passionfruit sauce. Then on Saturday I went to Amie's house and we played minecraft. After we played minecraft we put the hose and the soap on the tramp and slipped around and played on that for about two hours. Then we went in the spa and then my mum came to pick me up. Describe your passion project. What was your learning in it? What were you trying to produce?

My passion project was monkey facts. I was trying to produce a poster but it did not get finished.

How far did you get with your passion project? What would have helped you to get further?

I got quite far with my poster but unfortunately I had to start again. I probably could have gotten further by managing my distractions and moving away when somebody talks.

What was the most challenging part of your passion project?

The most challenging part of my passion project was getting the facts because some websites had other stuff on it or they just had facts that a lot of people know.

What was surprising about your passion project?

I found some really surprising facts. Like there is 264 kinds of monkeys

Did you follow your plan well? Why or why not?

Yes. Because I got all the facts that I needed and put them on my poster.

Which learning muscles did you use the most while you were working on your passion project? How did you use each one?

I probably used absorption the most because I went to where I wanted to sit and stayed there and got absorbed.

Which learning muscles did you find difficult to stretch during passion project time?

Managing distractions because people kept talking around me so I started talking as well.

Learning Buddies

Hi guys!! Welcome back to my blog and today I am going to tell you about learning buddies. Learning buddies are people that the teachers pair you up with and sometimes if the hub is good we get to pick our own.My learning buddy is Rain. Here is the photo of all the learning buddies: 

When the teachers want to change them we fill a form that says do you want to be a big or small buddy and who do you want to be your buddy and stuff like that. People don't always get to be with the buddy they want but sometimes people do. Sometimes people are in three's. We used to have buddy groups where four people are in a group and they are all buddys. Maths Blog Post

This is my maths task from Week 1 Term 2. For this task we had to measure 5 things that were between 1 and 5 meters. We had to have a buddy and I was buddied up with Bella. We also had to measure 5 different things then make each other estimate how big the things that we measured were.

Argument Writing

Hi Everybody. Today I will blogging about my argument writing. For this task we had to pick a topic, have three reasons and persuade the reader. The trickiest part was  trying to pick my reason because there were so many great things to pick from. My topic is:

Why You Should Adopt An Animal

You should DEFINITELY adopt an animal. If you do not like animals then read this and I think I might change your mind.

First of all, I think you should adopt an animal because at some pet store’s they are stuck in cages and some don’t even get taken out for walks or to play. Some cages are really small and they don't really have enough room to play or run around. It is really sad when the animals Brother, Sister, Mum or Dad gets adopted and they are all alone when nobody wants to adopt that last animal.

Secondly, some animals have had a really bad life and don't get fed enough, do not get much attention or if they get hurt the owner doesn't even care. Now they are living in cages with animals they don't even know. But if you adopt them you can feed them, pet them , and brush them. If I was an animal I would love that life WAY better.

Lastly, most people want to adopt a cat or dog but there are lots more animals out there that need rescuing. For example a hamster, a rabbit, a fish, a bird and lots more. Animals(that are not cats or dogs) are very fun to. Hamsters are fun because you can feed them watch them run on their wheel and brush them. Fish are fun because some fish can do tricks like flips. Birds are fun because you can train them to speak and say your name and lots more cool stuff.

Well I hope you enjoyed reading this and I really hope I made you get a pet or even think about getting one.
